Colts will not
They will not because there are too many teams in the NFL that are very capable of beating the colts. The colts do not have a team like the team the Dolphins had the year they went 19-0 and also they have continued to slip up. The colts need to focus more on winning a superbowl then going 19-0. you need to have a dominationg team to have a season like and the colts do not have a team like that. The colts are still settling in with a new coach and clearly they are not as succesful as they used to be. just becauase they have a great QB does not mean the hole team is that good. A team is not one player. you need to have good players across the board, and even a good backup incase of bad injuries. all of witch the colts lack
Can the Colts go 19-0?
Going for a perfect record in the NFL is not something that happens very often at all. The only team to ever have a "perfect season" which means winning every single regular and post season game including the superbowl, was the 1972 Miami Dolphins. But the Doplhins only had to win 17 games instead of the 19 games required to have a perfect season in the current NFL era. The last team to even come close to having a perfect season was the 2007 Patriots that went 18-1, their only loss in the Superbowl against the New York Giants. However, two teams this season, the Colts and the Saints, have a shot of going 19-0 in the NFL. It is even possible that both could meet with 18-0 records in the Superbowl, but that would be unlikely. I'm much more interested in the Colts having a perfect season though because the Colts are my favorite team(never really liked the Giants/Jets enough to consider them as my favorite team).
The Colts have been a great team for the last 9-10 years. They have the most regular season wins of any team in the 2000's(112). The closest they came to a perfect regular season in the modern era was in 2005 when the Colts went 14-2. Even though the Colts have had some really close games, including when they beat the Patriots(score: 35-34) and the Texans(35-27), I think they have a very good chance of going undefeated. They are already 11-0, and are only 8 wins away from the ultimate 19-0. They do have several injuries to key players, including Anthony Gonzalez, Bob Sanders, and Marlin Jackson, but they still have one of the best Quarterbacks(Peyton Manning) receivers(Reggie Wayne), and tight ends(Dallas Clark) in the game. The defense is also solid, having hard working players such as Jerraud Powers, Dwight Freeney, Gary Brackett, Robert Mathis, and Clint Session.
The Colts have a tough road ahead. But they have beaten several teams that they might see again in the playoffs(Patriots, Ravens, and Cardinals). I'm hoping that if the Colts do not have a perfect season, they will at least win the superbowl. What do you think about the Colts chance to go 19-0, which would be the second perfect season in NFL history?
